| ConsensusBest.com is an independent product research site that aims to be the consumer's trusted friend, a source of unbiased, up-to-date information on the best products in a growing number of categories and where to buy them locally. It is based on research conducted at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and is intended to be a service to both consumers and businesses. The site is available in beta form with full functionality for shoppers in our home base in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley and with limited functionality nationally. |

| At Consensus Best, our team of Product Researcher/Editors systematically studies the most trusted sources of expert product reviews and user evaluations to identify the best products in several popular and niche categories. Only those products that consistently rank as best across a broad variety of reviewers and users are considered for inclusion on our lists. We're confident that we can save you time and spare you frustration. Do your own research, then compare it to ours. We believe you'll reach the same conclusions. If not, let us know. We constantly reevaluate and update our research and we're happy to consider what you have to say. |
| How We Do It |
First, we do extensive research. We have access to databases and research tools not commonly available to the general public. Second, we read. A lot. Then, drawing on the most authoritative editorial reviews and tests, extensive user evaluations, and relevant government and industry standards, we:
- Determine the most important criteria upon which to judge a particular product.
- Identify products which meet or exceed those criteria and, where appropriate, classify them by cost relative to features.
- Highlight features that truly distinguish these best products from their competitors, focusing on the kind of key insights that drive buying decisions.
Finally, we show you a product's MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price), the price range in which it is selling, and which local stores carry it. For now, the store locator feature is fully functioning in our home base in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley. For everywhere else, we currently let you know which national chains carry your product, and we're adding new local and regional stores all the time.
